I've wanted to read some of Angela Castle's e-books for awhile but put it off as I felt the, at the time, that the prices were too high for what I consider short stories. Well, today I took the plunge and bought this one because it caught my eye. It interested me on a personal level because it is a story I could relate to in that the heroine struggled with a bodily injury with issues of physical pain & personal loss. That part intrigued me that plus that she was a normal woman who wasn't a perfect model but still beautiful as she is. Throw in a sci-fi element of another world with great men of integrity, passion/love & commitment and you have a story worth much more than most main stream authors offer in this price range in e-books. That this story took place mostly on earth and yet I have such a vivid picture of Kell amazes me. How the author can put so much into such these short stories is definitely a gift because I was fully satisfied by this book and quickly devoured it. It was really about a 130 page read due to formatting issues (not from reader) but I didn't mind. It had odd paragraph spacing that carried throughout that reduced the number of actual pages. I've read so many e-books in this price range and can say few fulfilled my reading experience as this story did. It was worth the money and I'm a happy customer. Do I want more of this story? YES! Would I pay for more details of this story and the home world of Kell? YES! Her creativity would be worth it and I hope she reads this because her stories could be of epic proportions & worth higher dollars of other authors. That could put her books out of my price range, lol. I would pay for more because I wanted & needed much more of this story though I enjoyed it. I couldn't give this 5 stars because of that though it was written very well. I'd recommend this too those who like some romance in their sci-fi.I will have to read the rest of her stories because she did writes a full, well developed story, with few grammatical errors and wonderful h/h characters that stay with you. Though I can't afford them all at once I can get one within my reading budget & put her on my favorites author list (not many make it there). It is rare indeed to find an author who can write romantic sci-fi in shorter pages that feels like a full novel. I'd recommend!

Healing Fire was my first read by author Angela Castle, and must say I will seek out more of her books.
I found the characters likeable and down-to-earth, the story interesting and easy to read.
I can recommend Healing Fire to anyone who likes a fantasy romance, but suggest (unlike me) you start with Book One in the Kingdom of Kell series.
I've read the first three books of this series and enjoyed them. I will be looking out for further books as they become available. The characters are interestingly diverse and I'm enjoying getting to know them as they each have their spot in the lime light.
Mellor has not found his protected. During an earthquake in San Francisco he is tossed into an unstable portal and ends up with Summer and her daughter blossom. The romance is really sweet and ties to the fate of Kell are revealed.
I loved this book as well as the
ones that came before ,Blue Fire and,Stealing Fire. It's fast paced, adventurous, and very good for the big woman who doesn't think she can be loved. All the woman in these stories have been made to feel bad about themselves because they're not super thin. But now there's a whole planet full of men who want to love and protect them. The bigger the better.
The only thing I didn't like is to much details about the sex. Kids might get these books and they've got their own how to book. I'd say only 18 and older should lead them.

I am a sucker for the matching of a hero with a heroine who also has a kid in tow. I love it when you see the fatherly instincts in a strong male brought out in addition to his romantic side.
The premise of this story was unique and thus refreshing for me the hero is actually someone who has been turned down quite a few times in trying to find a mate. It's not he's a loser, but that the other Kell guys are just as compelling. It makes his romance with the female lead all that much more convincing - he had to struggle to find her and not just by slaying dragons, but by going through failed courtships.
As a warning, the page numbers listed are misleading. Between every paragraph, there is huge spacing, so while appropriately priced for the length, it's not as a good of a value as you may think.
Melor a Kell warrior has been visiting the new location for the Kell matchmaking operation, LA. But Melor has once again lost a woman he wants to another Kell male. He is hurt and doesn't understand what he's doing wrong. After the latest disappointment he decides to return to Kell and forget about gaining a protected for himself. When he activates the portal, an earthquake happens before he can pass through. Off balance from the quake he falls into the portal that is shooting lighting bolts.
Melor lands in front of a truck in the Humboldt Redwood Forest of California. Summer Rose and her daughter Blossom are in the truck when it hits Melor. Summer who is a widow is lame from the accident in which her husband was killed. When they discover that their truck hit Melor, they (this was not believable) manage to get him into the truck and to their home, where Summer calls the doctor. Melor isn't badly hurt but is not conscious. Summer who had just changed the tire on her truck, is in a lot of pain and she sits with Melor during the night to make sure he's okay.
When Melor awakes he meets and is delighted with Blossom and when he sees Summer he realizes that she is the woman he wants to protect. But Summer is loyal to the memory of her husband and she doesn't believe Melor's stories about Kell, she thinks he has a mental problem and absolutely does not believe that he can heal her leg.
Although there were several areas that I had to suspend belief on, this was a wonderful story. Sometimes you have to just take a chance on love and Melor was willing to do that, even saying he would stay on earth, if that's what Summer wants him to do.
This was a great series - from the ending, I'm hoping there will be more books. (Loved the fruit loops thing)
